The
river is a 200yard walk from the farm, down a fairly steep track,
and flows through a wooded valley before joining the Tweed 2 miles
downstream. The beat is one and a quarter miles of the right bank and there is
a maximum of 2 rods (including day lets).
The whole beat is fished upto 6pm, then to ensure undisturbed Sea trout fishing the beat is split into two and fished on an alternate upper and lower basis.
Known primarily as a sea trout and salmon river, there is also
a healthy natural stock of brown trout and grayling. - see The
River
The fishing can be descibed as "wild" because the surroundings
are unspoilt, it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for plants
and wildlife, and is managed accordingly. It is best suited to the
able bodied and the experienced fisherman. Tiptoe has been awarded "Britain's Most Beautiful Farm 2006" This award recognises all the environmental work that is carried out on the farm .
The Till, although in England, is a tributary of the Tweed and
is governed by The Tweed Commissioners and the Tweed Angling Code
(copy available). An Environment Agency rod licence is therefore
not required.
